Hello lovelies!

If you’re looking for some organization inspiration, you’ve come to the right place!

We all know that dreaded mom brain, but with the amount of stuff we have to constantly keep track of, there’s bound to be something that slips through the cracks. I mean honestly, how does that quote go again, a woman’s mind is like having 3,000 tabs open in your browser all at once. I have a few different options I want to discuss of organization techniques I’ve used to keep my mom brain in check.

My First Step Toward an

Organized Mom Brain

First and foremost, a daily planner is my ultimate go-to.  My son is autistic, and has been going to speech, occupational, and ABA therapy since he was 2.  Unfortunately, it was impossible for us to keep his therapies at the same time every week.  Inevitably there would be cancellation and changes every week that I was constantly having to keep up with. Especially considering these places have a 3 strike and you're out policy.  Also, on top of figuring out the schedule for my son, we began the journey of GI doctors for my husband to diagnose the stomach issues he had been dealing with for most of his life… early stages of Crohn’s disease. And my daughter was going through the diagnosis of FPIES with different allergy doctors.  So between my son, my daughter, and my husband, our weeks were filled up on doctors visits from all different locations.  I was constantly worried that I was going to miss a change in a schedule somewhere, so I started looking into using a daily planner.  It took me a while to finally find one that suited my needs.

I finally found one that was perfect.  It had the months listed, as well as the days of the week listed with a notes area.  It also had the essential area with the listed times of the day to add in the doctor’s visits.  The only issue… It was the plainest planner I’d ever seen.  So, I decided to create my own so I could at least still have the cute planner to keep my life put together.

Below is one of the planners that I created.

Each planner I created is a digital format that you can print out and put in your favorite planner binder.  I have a couple favorite binders that I’ve purchased on Amazon

I love this binder because it has a cute design and it’s very sturdy.

This binder is perfect for those that are looking for a more professional design.

They are super simple to swap out and I swap my planners back and forth between these depending on how I feel each month.  I cannot express how much this planner has helped me with my daily life.  Now that I have one, I don’t have to constantly stress about my week.  Just a quick glance and I know what’s in store for me.  It also lets me plan out other activities for my family… and sooner than I’d like to think, I’ll be planning all my kids after school activities and their schedules.

Second Step Toward an

Organized Mom Brain

My second organization method I use is a weekly meal planner. I love these! I am a planner, I like to have my days mapped out for me so I don’t have to think of all the tedious things during the week.  Such as the commonly asked question, “What’s for dinner tonight?”  I cannot express how much I dread that question when I don’t have something planned out.  And trying to scrounge in the pantry for something to make is a chore.  This is why I started using a meal planner so I could map out exactly what was for dinner all week and my family could see it posted on the fridge.  Also, since my husband and I are lucky enough to have the weekends off together, I plan out my week and grocery list on Sunday for the week.  I also put another sheet for the grocery list on the fridge so we can add items to it all week.  This helps prevent the whole, “Dang it, I forgot (insert item) at the store”.  Check out here some of the meal plan designs I’ve created to be included in the planner binders.  I like to put in a copy for each week and once it’s filled out, I’ll post it to the fridge for my family to see.

It seems like such a simple step toward getting yourself organized but it helps immensely… plus can’t complain about at least having a cute grocery list when heading to the store.

Third Step Toward An

Organized Mom Brain

Lastly, in keeping my mom brain organized, I like to include a self-care/fitness area in my planner to remind myself to take care of me.  When taking care of children, especially in the early days of babies and toddlers, you get so caught up in just trying to survive your daily life that you don’t think to take the time for yourself.  I know you’re probably thinking, “I don’t have time for that”.  But trust me, when you start to map out your days, you’ll be able to find the time for yourself.  Even if it’s just 20 minutes a day to do something for yourself.  This can be something like meditating, doing a skin care routine, painting your nails, doing a hair mask etc.  You’ll start to feel so much better mentally and you won’t feel as burnt out.  I don’t know if you have seen the episode of Bluey, but when the Mom, Chili, tells her daughter that “Sometimes, Moms just need 20 minutes” she couldn’t have said a truer statement.  In my self-care/fitness area, I like to include a place to list memories, or funny events that happened during the day.  I feel this out at night after the children have gone to bed.  I actually look forward to this part because it lets me look back through my day in a new light and it’s something that I can look back on.  I know I’m going to want these memories to look back on as my children have grown.

Also, tidbit, my fitness area is usually filled out with either yoga, or dance workouts.  They seem to be the easiest for me to stick to for results, and I can incorporate my kids into them, which they love!

I hope these planners I’ve created can help you construct your perfect planner.  If you have any questions, or want advice on how to get your planner going, feel free to contact me at thecomtoislife@gmail.com.
