The Comtois Life Budgeting Platform

Hello lovelies!

So today, we’re going to talk about budgeting.

Yeah, yeah, I know, it’s not anyone’s favorite subject, but it is one of the most important tools you need when dealing with your personal finances.  You’d be surprised what you find out you spend in a month’s time when you start doing your research on your bank account.  I mean let’s be honest, just think about the amount of streaming services you pay for each month… for example, I apparently pay for 5 streaming services every single month.  Are all of these necessary… absolutely not.  If I need to cut down spending, these subscription services are the first thing I think of.  I mean unfortunately, some areas you just can’t change, like my $400 a month electric bill that makes me want to turn every light off in the house. But budgeting out these areas can show you when and where you do need to cut back on those unnecessary expenses.

My life tidbit up next….

Growing up, we lived in a single income household as my mother stayed home with my brother and I to care for and homeschool us.  My parents always struggled with their finances… although my brother and I could never tell. My mom was very strict with her budget, so they would still be able to provide new clothes, toys, activities, etc. for both of us.  In order to keep to this strict budget, my mom created her own budgeting spreadsheet that would allow her to be able to see in the future where their finances would be.  She always said that the one’s she saw were to expensive, or didn’t do operate the way she preferred to make it easy. By allowing her to see this, she could tell when and where we could afford certain things, or when we needed to cut back to be able to make it through that month.  My mom has used this spreadsheet she created for most of my life, and she continues to use it today. When I opened my first bank account after graduation, the first thing my mom did was create me my very own budgeting spreadsheet so she could teach me how to track my finances.

Flashforward to today….

Over the years, I've continued to use this same spreadsheet, just with minor tweaks here and there to keep track of the certain accounts and expenses that I have compared to what it was back then… Oh, the simpler days.  I credit all of this spreadsheet to my mother and what she was able to come up with back then, and I’m so glad that she was able to share it with me.
